On December 17th, 2016, China-ASEAN Legal Forum: Seminar on China-ASEAN Legal Reform and Collaboration on Cyber Finance was successfully held in Kunming. Hosted by China Law Society and jointly organized by Yunnan Law Society, Southwest University of Political Science and Law and Yunnan University, the seminar was an activity under the framework of China-ASEAN Legal Forum. Mr. Zhang Mingqi, Vice President of China Law Society, member of the Party Leadership Group of China Law Society, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), Vice Chairman of the Law Committee of the NPC and President of China-ASEAN Legal Research Center, Mr. Win Myint, Deputy Attorney General of Myanmar, and Mr. Qiao Hanrong, President of Yunnan Law Society, attended the opening ceremony and made an address respectively. H.E.Chan Sotheavy, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia, Mr. Prashant Kumar, President of LAWASIA and President Elect of Bar Association of India, and Mr. Yue Caishen, Vice-President of Southwest University of Political Science and Law were present at the forum and respectively made a keynote speech. Mr. Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Hon. Justice of Supreme Court of Nepal, and Mr. Keshari Raj Pandit , Executive Director of National Judicial Academy of Nepal were present at the opening ceremony. Officials of legal branch of gorvernment, expert scholars, lawyers and legal practitioners from China, ASEAN and some countries in South Asia, together with participants of the 10th Course of China-ASEAN Legal Training Base as well as participants of the 1st Course of China-South Asia Legal Training Base attended the seminar, amounting to over 100 people.
Vice President Mr. Zhang Mingqi pointed out in his speech that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue relations, the 11th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN Legal Forum and also the 1st anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN Community. Holding a seminar in such an important year really has significance. Focusing on cyber economy, a hot issue at present in the regional development, this seminar is in accordance with the latest tides of current times and provides more legal protection to the sustainable and healthy development of China-ASEAN free trade zone under the age of 'Internet Plus'. In order to promote the cooperation and development of China-ASEAN under the new situation, Mr. Zhang Mingqi offered three suggestions: a) to deepen the cooperation and communication of China-ASEAN finance; b) to promote the co-building of the Internet financial risk supervision system; c) to strengthen the practice of the regional Internet financial legal cooperation. Mr. Zhang also expressed good wishes to the prospect of China-ASEAN legal cooperation.
