With increasingly close economic and trade ties under globalization and regional integration, Northeast Asia is becoming a vibrant, promising part of the world economy. To propel China-Northeast Asia economic and trade cooperation, and strengthen trust, friendship and partnership between legal circles of China and Northeast Asian countries, China Law Society launched Northeast Asia Legal Forum in 2009. As a new yet important section of Northeast Asia Investment Expo, the Forum has contributed to enhancing understanding and trust between legal circles of Northeast Asian countries, promoted their economic and trade development, boosted the cooperation between their legal professionals in Northeast Asia and built a prosperous and harmonious regional environment.

 

The 1st Northeast Asia Legal Forum was held in Changchun, capital city of Jilin Province, China on September 2, 2009. Over 150 experts, scholars, judges, arbitrators, lawyers and entrepreneurs from China, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia and Russia brainstormed on the theme “Legal Protection and Cooperation of Investment and Trade” and such topics as “The Mechanism of Legal Protection of the Mutual Investments and Trade Cooperation among Northeast Asian Countries”, “The Legal Consulting, Legal Collaboration and Legal Service in the Mutual Investments and Trade Cooperation among Northeast Asian countries”, “The Legal Resolution Mechanism of the Mutual Investment and Trade Disputes among Northeast Asian countries” and “The Legal Protection Mechanism after the Enterprises’ Bankruptcy Owing to Its Investment”.

 

Themed “Legal Environment for Economic and Trade Cooperation between Northeast Asian Countries”, the 2nd Northeast Asia Legal Forum blossomed in Changchun once again on September 1, 2010. Over 160 experts, scholars, judges, arbitrators, lawyers and entrepreneurs from China, Japan, South Korea and Mongolia attended the Forum and discussed such topics as “Legal Regulation of Mutual Investment between Northeast Asian Countries”, “Legal Cooperation in Economic and Trade Cooperation between Northeast Asian Countries”, “Set up an Equal Dialogue Mechanism to Properly Resolve the Legal Issues of Trade Disputes” and “Cooperation and Prospects of Legal Circles of the Northeast Asian Countries”. Liu Yang, Executive Vice-President of China Law Society, Mr. Yu Jianlong, Vice-President & Secretary-General of CIETAC, Mr. Li Shenxue, Standing Member of the CPC Jilin Committee & Secretary of Jilin Provincial Politics and Law Committee, Mr. Navaanperenlei Jantsan, Vice-President of the Constitution Court of Mongolia, Vice-President of Liberal Democratic Party of Japan delivered speeches on the opening ceremony of the Forum.

 

The 3rd Northeast Asia Legal Forum was held in Ulan Bator, Mongolia on September 14, 2011. More than 100 legal professionals from China, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia and Russia probed into the theme “The Legal Environment of Economic and Trade Cooperation in Northeast Asian Countries”. On the opening ceremony of the Forum, Mr. Sa Yan Geriletu, Legal Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia read the congratulatory letter of Deputy Prime Minister Miyeegombo Enkhbold; Mme. Liu Yang, Executive Vice-President of China Law Society and Mr. Banzragch Purevnyam, Member of Constitution Committee and President of Bar Association of Mongolia delivered speeches; Mr. Bart Sue, Member of Mongolian Parliament and Mr. Asahi Getu, Member of Congressional Economic Committee of Mongolia also attended the ceremony.

Northeast Asia Legal Professionals Exchange Project

Northeast Asia Legal Professionals Exchange Project has realized the practical cooperation initiative proposed on the 3rd Northeast Asia Legal Forum. It is the development and extension of the Forum, which has contributed to setting up a new platform for promoting the practical cooperations of legal communities between China and Northeast Asian countries. It’s a landmark of the new stage for the Northeast Asia Legal Forum.

 

Two courses of the Northeast Asia Legal Professionals Exchange Project has been held by Law School of Jilin University in Changchun in 2013 and 2014 respectively, in which 30 judiciary officials, scholars and lawyers from North Korea, Mongolia, South Korea, Russia, Malaysia participated.
